I use Tire Rack to check reviews and pricing, haven't bought from them in 10 years. Their failure to collect and forward the sales tax provides a seemingly obvious advantage over our locally owned and operated tire stores. Last month, had to replace 4 tires on my pickup. Tire Rack was $880 + $112 for shipping, $992 delivered. Never followed up to check local install prices. Called Brian at Tiger Tire in Auburn, $1018 mounted, balanced, out the door with lifetime flat repair. Brian put money toward his rent and keeping some locals employed, I actually saved some coin, AND paid toward some of the essential services provided though the city and state. Tire Rack and the other online retailers may save you some coin today, but long term, the distant virtual non tax collecting/forwarding retailers will be high cost to all of us.
