Anyone on Little Kowaliga side know someone

that repairs lawn mowers on site?? John Deere rider

had thrown the deck belt. New hip and broken

foot prevent me from fixing currently.

Thanks Donnie

I don't know anyone to help with that.  I could and would but am a good 200 miles away right now.

We bought a JD rider from Home Depot and have regretted the "good deal" we got ever since.

Here is the problem: there is a design flaw that puts the deck and drive pulleys at severely offset positions.  Just looking at it when it isn't running makes you wonder how it would ever stay on. The drive pulley attached to the motor is much higher than the deck pulleys, and that offset causes any perturbation to the normal flow of the belt to cause it to jump the pulley.

i hope you find someone to put it back on, and if you do, please remember to slowly engage and disengage the blades, and only do it with the engine at idle. I hold my breath every time I do.

I fear that John Deere has gone the way of many formerly quality brands that trade their good name for short term profits peddling products bearing the brand name but not living up to the quality expected from a product bearing that name.

There is no doubt in my mind you are right about the quality now.  We bought a new John Deere riding mower in 1989, and left it for the new homeowners when we sold out in VA in 2008.  Regular maintenance and no problems.

This is an expensive JD from Deere dealer. The design awful. Comes off about

ten times a year.  Called dealer and they said. Yep, you got real

problem. That was all they had to say.

Nice to meet you too Don. Love your place. The belt routing sure baffled me for a while but a piece of cake once I did.

I needed to borrow a window A/C unit.

Lifer stepped up and loaned me his spare.

Actions speak louder ladies and gentlemen.

Thanks again Lifer.
