That they have to trot Mitt Romney, a failed candidate, to trash Trump. I found his speech to be nothing more than a lot of proclaimations
with no supporting examples or proof. Tump will be making a counter speech later today. I would love him to take the high road and take Mitt Romney apart piece by piece, talk to the fear of the establishment, and come out looking Presidential, rather than bombastic. I personally believe that Trump learned that being outrageous got him free air time and paid off. But now, he has to find a way to be mature and serious, without losing his base.

I agree. With the nomination now almost in hand a turn to acting presidential would all but ensure he is the Repub choice, and if he were to continue in that vein he would make it a lot easier for fence-sitters to vote for him in the general election.

Yes Hound,
You and I most certainly agree that the high road, although difficult for Trump, will pay dividends ( read Florida and Ohio and NC). He has to take his shots from his competitors and the RNC, not let them get under his skin and use the anger against Hillary. we will see if he is capable of taking this abuse and not fire back. It would be difficult for anyone, not a character weakness.

There are a lot of Republicans supporting Trump so you can't lump them all together. But other than that nit I just picked you are right. And you are also right that Trump can do a lot for himself with those of us who do not currently support him by acting presidential. I am not optimistic and I am quite sure he will call Romney a loser and repeat all the Democrat talking points about him in an insulting and demeaning way........and his fans will eat it up. The rest of us not so much.....

You are right, it is the the 'establishment' GOP that is upset. I suspect that they are going to feel a huge backlash if Trump has the delegates and they try to stage a coup. Then you'll see the GOP splinter and give away the election.

Exactly right. That would clearly fall into Trump's definition of being treated "unfairly" and I tend to would agree with him. What would put an end to this is Trump getting either Rubio or Cruz to agree to the VP position. Won't happen but it would seal the deal. Cruz and Rubio making a similar pact would not work because them combined will probably not have more delegates than Trump. Maybe they would if they did it today but both think they can win a contested convention so more likely it will be even more muddy by convention time if both stay in.

Rather pathetic to sit back and watch the Grand Old Party self destruct. Just hope my choice is not wearing orange in November.

A suggestion today was that the blood between Obama and Clinton is so bad that they are timing the indictment to do her the most harm. If true, Chicago politics at its finest.
