Subject:   No wonder they hid the J6 tapes

After watching a fair amount of the tapes it is no wonder the J6 committee refused to show them all.  Cherry picking ones where the crowd got out of hand and implying that was an example of all those there was a brilliant move.  The one I particularly liked was the "protester" in handcuffs with all black clothing and a black helmet being uncuffed out of the sight of others and fist bumping a police officer.  I think we now understand why Chris Wray refused multiple times to answer the question in front of a congressional hearing about how many Feds were present that day. I suspect that not only were there a lot of them I also suspect they incited violence and others there got carried away.

Why did police officers open doors and direct people into the building and act like tour guides?

Why did it take years to charge Ray Epps and then only with a misdemeanor given all the video evidence of him inciting people to go into the Capitol?

Why were J6 defendents unable to use the footage in their trials?

I have come to the conclusion that this was a total setup and stupid, angry, upset people fell for it and had their lives ruined, all to get Trump.  I agree with Mike Lee that the J6 committee needs to be investigated as to what else they hid and whether they destroyed evidence that could exonerate J6 defendants.

And as a final note, initially I was not pleased about them getting rid of McCarthy as Speaker but now I think it was the right move.  He promised to release the tapes and never did.  He deserved to go.

On McCarthy, I agree he had to go, but riddle me this, he was proposeing Cr's with 8% across the board cuts which is why dems wouldn't sign on.  Now we have Johnson with CR's with level funding, meaning no cuts.  So explain to me again how we won?

Just more proof that officials in Washington never tell us the whole story.  They shouldn't have stormed the Capitol, but it looked to me like the majority of those that got in weren't sure what to do, and maybe were just a bit awestruck that they were in there.  It appeared to me that there were a lot of people with cameras recording than there were people being violent.  Looked like most of the violence took place outside.  Perhaps some of the were waiting for Trump to show up and tell them what to do.  Truth be known, I suspect Trump enjoyed putting a bit of fear in Congress with the crowds, but he didn't really know what to do either.

I can no longer even pretend that I understand what goes on in Washington.  A lot of it used to be fairly predictable, but now?  No one tells the citizens the truth about anything.  We get lies and half truths not just from the Administration, but from everyone.  There was a time when I might have thought that Johnson, the new Speaker, was just a straightforward guy trying to do the right thing, but I'm no longer sure that is true.  Next week, Gaetz and company will probably try to oust him.

The bigger issue for me is the selective use and intentional censorship of the tapes that demonstrated that most of the people there did not engage in violence and were seemingly admitted by Capitol police.  No doubt some of them were violent and deserved some form of punishment.  But to call this a violent insurrection is beyond the pale.  As are many of the sentences.  And it also has convinced me that the FBI was there and incited violence.

Although a fair point, I remain unconvinced that controlling one half of one third of the government had any hope of budget cuts regardless of the Speaker.  I am more of a realist or maybe a fatalist when it comes to what the House can accomplish when Democrats control the Senate and the WH.  Heck, when the GOP held all three they did very little.
